GLIWICE, ul. Toszecka 25 B, rok szkolny 2011/2012

Programming: when the ideas turn into the real things [Maciej Kaczmarek]   ***   Computer programming is tremendous fun. Like music, it is a skill that derives from an unknown blend of innate talent and constant practice. Like drawing, it can be shaped to a variety of ends: commercial, artistic, and pure entertainment. Programmers have a well-deserved reputation for working long hours, but are rarely credited with being driven by creative fevers. Programmers talk about software development on weekends, vacations, and over meals not because they lack imagination, but because their imagination reveals worlds that others cannot see [Larry O'Brien and Bruce Eckel]   ***   Programmers are in a race with the Universe to create bigger and better idiot-proof programs, while the Universe is trying to create bigger and better idiots. So far the Universe is winning [Rich Cook]   ***   Any code of your own that you haven't looked at for six or more months might as well have been written by someone else [Eagleson's Law]   ***   That's what's cool about working with computers. They don't argue, they remember everything, and they don't drink all your beer [Paul Leary]   ***   Programmer: An organism that can turn caffeine into code [Anonymous]   ***   Considering the current sad state of our computer programs, software development is clearly still a black art, and cannot yet be called an engineering discipline [Bill Clinton]   ***   If debugging is the process of removing bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in [Edsger W. Dijkstra]   ***   Real Programmers always confuse Christmas and Halloween because Oct31 == Dec25 [Andrew Rutherford]   ***   Experience shows that the success of a programming course critically depends on the choice of presented examples [Niklaus Wirth]   ***   The function of good software is to make the complex appear to be simple [Grady Booch]   ***   Low-level programming is good for the programmer's soul [John Carmack]   ***   Programming is not a zero-sum game. Teaching something to a fellow programmer doesn't take it away from you. I'm happy to share what I can, because I'm in it for the love of programming [John Carmack ]   ***   What I was proud of was that I used very few parts to build a computer that could actually speak words on a screen and type words on a keyboard and run a programming language that could play games. And I did all this myself [Steve Wozniak]   ***   It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to students that have had prior exposure to BASIC. As potential programmers, they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration [Edsger W. Dijkstra]
